Our backgrounds are rooted in multiple approaches: Montessori, Reggio Emilia, play-based emergent curriculum, and strong content knowledge. This approach offers a new mindset for how we think about contemporary early education and maximize all children’s learning potential. We call this a Complementary Approach to Curriculum. A Complementary Approach is not a series of defined lessons and prescribed activities; it is an understanding of multiple curricular approaches in an effort to create rich learning experiences with the belief that all children can learn.
